Work, shows, and stuff

Hi Everyone! Hope y’all are having a great summer. Mine has been crazy! The day job has been taking up all of my attention–having to work 12 hour days. It’s been hectic and a little frustrating for sure. Unfortunately, not much to report on the book front this month. I’ve been trying just to keep my head above water. When I’m not working, I’m trying to relax to keep myself from burning out.

On a good note-I’ve watched some quality shows whenever I’ve had the opportunity. For those of you looking for something to watch I’d recommend Loki on Disney+. The show has gotten a lot of flack for being confusing, but man! I don’t think so at all. It’s a fun, fast paced, and Tom Hiddleston is excellent. Is it weird with all the time jumping? Yes. And having several different versions of Loki? Sure! But it’s a fun, different, and entertaining.

What else did I see? Hmmm, well I saw Mare of Easttown–and whoa. If you’re looking for drama and mystery, it will definitely fit the bill. It’s about a small town detective that is investigating a murder. But at the sametime going through some shit. Kate Winslet is really, really good. Like really good. She deserves all the awards. All of them.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for this month. Hopefully next month there will be something to report about book 2. Until then!

It’s a marathon…

It’s the second week since Dark Sun Rising has been released and as I originally thought–it’s going to be a marathon and not a sprint.

And personally–I’m okay with that. I know I have a long way to go. So first thing on my agenda (and what has always been number one on my list) is growing my readership. That will take some time and patience, which I have plenty of since I didn’t get into this business to make loads of cash. I mean it would be nice… but it’s not likely.

Nope, not at all.

The reason why I got into this whole thing was because I love writing. It brings me joy–it was so much fun writing Dark Sun Rising. And, it looks like there might be a few folks out who really enjoyed reading the book, too, and are looking forward to more from Mel, Victor, and Gabe.

Which brings me to number two on my list… finishing the next book of the Continuous War series. I’m forty-five thousand words in, and not even halfway through. So, I’ve got quite a bit more writing to do. Then after, I’ll need a little time to let the story rest before starting the editing process. And I think by now you know how much I like that part.

So those are my immediate plans. I mean, other than slinging the paperback copy of Dark Sun Rising everywhere I go. It can be found here and here for those of you interested. Don’t be shy, check it out.

It just might be your thing.

A small update…

Thanks for all of you that helped by voting in the cover poll. It is greatly appreciated, and I have to say, it was actually a pretty good experience! So good, I might have to do a cover poll for future novels as well.

In other news, Book 2 is coming along very nicely. Just a month ago, I was stuck, not knowing which direction to take. I had a general idea on how I wanted the story to begin and end, but the rest, well, it was all up in the air–and worse, I had a bit of writer’s block. Since then, I’ve succeeded in writing myself out of the block, and basically decided to push some of the action that occurs in the beginning of the story to the middle. I’m sure that might sound a bit confusing, but when you guys read it, you’ll get to see what I mean.

Other than that, I’ve been trying to get through The Ways of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a monster of a novel, and I’m trying to juggle that with all the other things I have to do, so I’m guessing it’ll be about three years before I finish it.

Just kidding!

But really, it’ll be awhile before I get through that book, because hey! Writing my own is more important.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now. Same time next week? Yes? Good!
